Abstract

180,234. Poumade, T. M. July 1, 1921. Addition to 158,885. Automatic-feed weighers.-The automatic grainweigher and sack-filling machine described in the parent Specification is modified in the following respects, (1) the weight-hanger 13 has a pivoted cross-piece 16 co-operating with a bracket 15 so as to support the weights on the hanger and avoid damage to the knife-edges, (2) the dribble-feed orifice in the major feed-gate 22 may be adjusted in size by means of a plate adjustably secured by two screws, (3) the pivot 28 of the dribble-feed gate 25 is arranged eccentric to the pivot 23 of major feed-gate 22, (4) the T-shaped lever 43 used for setting the hammers 58, 59 is returned to its initial position together with the feed-starting mechanism by a blade spring 45, (5) the catch 54 for holding open the dribble-feed gate 25 is now urged into the operative position by a weight 57 instead of by a spring, (6) the compensating levers 70, 73 used for balancing the column of grain falling at cut-off are provided with rollers 78, 79 at the ends contacting with the weighbeam 11, (7) a counter 86 is provided to register the number of sacks weighed and is operated by the fall of a lever 87 normally retained by a catch 88. The catch is displaced at final cut-off by an arm 95 moving with the compensating lever 73. The lever 87 is restored to the position shown by the upward thrust of the dribble-feed gate acting upon a rod 92 when the feed gates are again opened, (8) the level of the machine is verified by means of a pivoted' arrow 97.
