469,497. Delivering measured quantities of granular materials. EATON, S. March 24, 1936, No. 8715. [Class 106 (v)] In apparatus for delivering measured quantities of granular and like materials comprising a hopper 1 and a measuring chamber 2 formed between two reciprocating shutters 5, 11 arranged so that one is completely closed before the other begins to open, each shutter is operated by means of a pin 8 at its rear end engaging within one of two cam slots 15, 16 at opposite sides of a plate 9 adapted to be oscillated about a spindle 17, each slot comprising a portion 15 concentric with the axis of the plate and inoperative relative to its pin 8 and an offset portion 15a serving to move the pin to open or close the shutter. The shutter 5 is mounted between guide plates 5 and 7 and the shutter 11 between a guide plate 14 and a stud 2b. The measuring chamber may be adjusted by a plunger 22 operable from outside the chamber by a lever associated with a scale indicating the capacity of the chamber.
