Abstract
642,078. Weighing-apparatus. SIMON (HOLDINGS), Ltd., H. Sept. 8, 1948, No. 23603. [Class 143] The feed gate of an automatic feed weigher is closed gradually from an open position to the dribble feed position, so effecting a smooth throttling of the bulk feed, by the engagement and slow release of its operating lever s by the sector h of a duplex abutment lever pivoting under the control of a dash pot q, the other sector e of said lever being located above a stop b on the weigh beam a'during the bulk feed. At the completion of discharge from the weigh hopper, end u of the beam a rises, pivots lever t about t' and, through engagement of a catch v with the lever t, the arm s is pivoted anti-clockwise about s' so opening the feed gate. Simultaneously a lever m, pivoted at n and controlled by the dash pot q is pivoted clockwise by the beam and through a link k and a crank f pivots lever t about t' and, through enthat its sector h engages under an abutment j on the lever s, maintaining the gate open, and its sector e is located above the abutment b. The abutment j is secured to the lever s by a pivoted catch i so that it may pass the sector h when the lever s pivots anti-clockwise. The weight of material accumulating in the weigh hopper now raises the abutment b into contact with the sector e so locking the beam during the bulk feed and freeing the end of lever m. This lever is then pivoted anticlockwise by its weight p, at a rate controlled by the dash pot q, until its free end again engages the beam and through link k and crank f the abutment lever is also slowly rotated anti-clockwise so that its sector h is disengaged from the abutment j allowing the lever s to gradually pivot clockwise so slowly throttling the bulk feed. At the instant when the abutments j and b are disengaged the gate closes to its dribble feed position and the beam is free to rise, on completion of the dribble feed, so effecting final cut off.
