Discharging-devices for endless-belt conveyers ; shoots.-A feed supply means for use between the discharge end of a conveyer and the weighing hopper of an automatic weighing machine comprises a bi-compartmented auxiliary hopper 3 wherein the discharge gates 3<a>, 3<b> are controlled by toggle linkages 13, 14 adapted to be broken for effecting the opening of the gates and wherein the auxiliary hopper is maintained in each of its filling positions by means of a lever 8 or 9 connected by links 6, 7 to the hopper, the levers 8, 9 co-operating with triggers 11<a>, 12a carried by counterweighted levers 11, 12 and being tripped when the weight of material fed into a compartment equals or exceeds a predetermined amount. The material, for example, coal, is carried by a conveyer 1 and is dropped into one compartment of the bi-compartmented auxiliary hopper 3 mounted on a pivot 4. When sufficient coal has entered the compartment to overcome the resistance of the weighted lever 12, the hopper rocks about its pivot 4 until arrested by the contact of a bracket 3<d> with a fixed stop 5<a>. The second compartment then receives the flow of coal from the conveyer. The rocking movement brings the extremity 14<a> of the toggle linkage 14 against a fixed stop 5b and breaks the toggle, thus opening the discharge gate 3<b> and permitting the coal to fall into the weigh hopper 2 of an automatic weighing machine. A similar operation then takes place in connection with the second compartment.
