Apparatus for dispensing weighed quantities of material from a bulk supply, e.g. feed concentrates for cows, comprises a hopper 10 the outlet 11 of which is controlled by a slide 12, a weighing container 17 below the hopper and suspended from a weighbeam 18 and means which, when the outlet 11 is closed, open one of two doors 25 to deliver a weighed quantity of material from either side of the container 17. When the required weight of material, as indicated by a spring balance 21, has been received in the container 17, a rod 14 is pushed to cause the slide 12 to close the outlet 17 and then rotated in one direction or the other to release one of the doors 25. Similar mechanisms are associated with the doors and the one which is operated depends on the direction in which the rod 14 is rotated. A double-ended lever 37 is fixed to the rod 14 and on the rotation of the rod it moves to actuate one of two bell-crank levers 32 out of engagement with a stop pin 36 on the wall of the container 17 and so release a pivoted arm 29 to which the bellcrank lever 32 is pivoted, at which a door 25, connected to the lever 32 through a link 28, opens. The door is reclosed by a spring 27, the levers returning to their initial positions and the re-engagement of the stop-pin 36 retaining them. A projection 39 from the rod 14 slides in a slot to prevent rotation of the rod till the slide 12 has fully uncovered the outlet 11, at which point lateral recesses relieve the slot, and when the rod 14 is rotated a projection from its end turns across the end wall of the container 17 and prevents it from tilting as it empties its contents.
