Abstract
617,292. Electrolysis. BERGER, P. Sept. 24, 1946, No. 28482. [Class 41] An electrolyte for use in the electro-deposition of chromium comprises an aqueous solution of chromic acid together with hydrofluosilicic acid and a small proportion of one or more molybdenum compounds soluble in the electrolyte. The preferred compound is ammonium molybdate. The chromic acid may be between 100 and 600 grammes per litre of water, the hydrofluosilicic acid from 1 to 10 per cent of the total weight of chromic acid, and the molybdate from .5 to 10 grammes per litre of the total volume of electrolyte.
