Abstract
615,846. Firearms. ZBROJOVKA BRNO NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 14, 1946, No 24211. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1939. [Class 119] The breech bolt of a firearm is constituted by a flat prismatic body 11 which can be rotated about the longitudinal axis through a small angle x to bring locking lugs 15, 15<SP>1</SP>, formed thereon into locking engagement with recesses 17, 17<SP>1</SP> formed in the breech body 2. The body 11 shown is four-sided having its base many times longer than its height and having two opposite corners of its cross-section bevelled in two parallel planes over a length l behind the locking lugs. In a modification the bolt has a lateral pin which engages in a slot formed in the rear end of a gas piston rod, whereby upon a shot being fired the gas piston rod first unlocks the bolt and then drives it rearwards to the breech-open position.
