[Class 39 (iii)] Material in long lengths 1, impregnated with a volatile substance is heated by continuous passage between electrodes 4, 5. Connected to a source of HE power by leads 12, 13. Power loss from the electrodes by corona discharge is prevented by surrounding each electrode with insulating material, as shown in Fig. 2, where the electrode 15 is enclosed in a quartz or pyrex tube.
