Abstract

612,391. Caps for discharge tubes. DU MONT LABORATORIES, Inc., A. B. May 24, 1946, No. 15842. Convention date, June 26, 1945. [Class 38 (i)] A connector sealed through the wall 1 of a vacuum tube comprises a metal tube 2, a metal conductor 7 being supported on insulating discs 4, 5 hermetically sealed into the ends of said metal tube. The outer ends of the tube 2 and conductor 7 are flanged and headed at 6, 8 respectively for engaging with a snap connector on the end of a coaxial cable. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the metal tube is threaded and expanded at its inner and outer ends respectively, an externally threaded sleeve being placed over the latter end, at the base of which sleeve and at the start of the expanded portion, the connector is sealed to the wall 1, the central conductor being supported on a single insulating disc.
