Abstract

611,578. Furniture frames. PRESTON, J. de la P. B. May 3, 1946, Nos. 13487/46 and 2020/47. [Class 52(ii)] A metal-framed chair, in which the seat is directly supported by the frame proper forwardly of the back part of the seat, is provided with one or more struts between the back part of the seat and the base part of the frame. As shown the tubular frame 1, 2, 3 of a nesting chair is that described in Specification 602,218 and is provided in addition with a pivotal support for the seat, which support comprises a transverse tube 15 welded to the frame by sockets 17 and the back part of the seat is connected to the base part of the frame by a strut 16 which is secured in position with a limited amount of pivoting. A stop comprising a forwardly extending loop 19 of the transverse tube 15 is provided to limit the pivoting of the seat. A coat rail, and parcel and umbrella racks may be provided.
