Abstract

610,626. Thermal switches. BEETHOVEN ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and BURTON, D. C. April 11, 1946, No. 11210. [Class 38 (v)] The foot 16 supporting an electric kettle 10 opposite to the spout, is attached to a spindle 29 slidable in a boss 27 of an annular member 25 surrounding a slotted bush 20 of an immersion-heater unit 13 and clamped by a ring-nut 26. A grub screw 33, guiding the spindle is locked to the member 25 by a nut 34, and serves as an adjustable abutment for one end of a spring 36 bearing on a collar 35 fixed to the spindle. A circular insulating block 37 carries U-shaped resilient contacts 42, 43 which are closed when the weight of the kettle and its contents is sufficient to move the collar 35 upwards, but open the circuit through the heater element when the kettle boils dry.
