Abstract

650,197. Heating liquids by electricity. TYSON, W. M. Sept. 21, 1948, No. 24642. [Class 39(iii)] A small electric immersion heater 1 suitable for heating beverages is pivotally mounted at the end of a beam 3 supported intermediate its length for rotary movement in a vertical plane, the heater 1 being immersed in and withdrawn from the liquid in a vessel 7 upon movement of the beam 3 in one or other of two directions, a mercury switch 9 being included in the heating circuit. The heater 1 is pivoted at 2 to the beam 3 itself stiffly pivoted at 4 to a vertical support 5. The mercury switch 9 ensures that the heater 1 is energized only in its depressed position.
