Abstract

599,314. Heating liquids by electricity. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., CLOUGH, F. H., and NEWBOUND, R. July 17, 1945, Nos. 18272 and 29454. [Class 39 (iii)] A water heater comprises a closed tank 1 containing an electric heating element 2 and having inlet and outlets 3 and 16 respectively, the water being supplied from an auxiliary reservoir 6 having a float-operated valve 9, to maintain a predetermined water level in the tank, and a switch 14 responsive to a rise in level to break the heater circuit. The switch 14 is of the float-operated type. The tank 1 may be in the form of a jacket of greater volume at the bottom than at the top, surrounding an oven, which is provided with electric heaters, those in the jacket being enclosed in pockets attached to the wall. The heater may be included-in an installation having other heated ovens and compartments.
