Abstract

610,194. Tractor-trailer couplings. SOC. ANON. A. CITROEN. March 29, 1946, No. 9863. Convention date, April 12, 1945. [Class 103 (v)] A U-shaped bar 2, pivoted to a horizontal bar 1 on the tractor, is provided with a circular orifice at its apex which is bored to receive vertical trunnions 4b of a sleeve 4 carrying a rotary bush 4a provided with a bracket 5 in which a lever 6 with cam end 6a is pivoted. The cam 6a is adapted to engage in a slot in a coupling rod 13 and to be locked therein by a bolt 7. The coupling rod 13 is attached to the draw-bar 16 of a trailer by a universal joint having horizontal and vertical pins 11, 12, the pin 11 being fixed in the joint and extended and rigidly attached to a transverse steering bar 17 to which the trailer wheel steering rods 14 are connected. In order to prevent lateral oscillation of the coupling rod 13 when coupled to the tractor, the end of the rod is adapted to engage in spring clips 8 pivoted at 9, 10 to a strut 18 of the U-shaped bar 2 of the tractor.
