224,641. Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., and Palmer, R. G. Sept. 4, 1923. Compound or articulated road vehicles; couplings for road vehicles.- The coupling or draw-bar 14 of a two-wheel trailer is connected by a ball- and-socket or other universal joint 16 to the tractor and is pivoted at 12 to the trailer frame 6, movement about the pivot being opposed by oppositely-acting springs 23, 24. The trailer has a tipping body and the tipping gear is utilized to assist in the coupling and uncoupling operations. When the trailer is to be uncoupled the body is tipped and supporting legs are lowered to the ground and secured. The ball joint 16 is then released by withdrawing a securing pin 18 and the trailer frame 6 is raised together with the draw-bar 14 by means of the tipping screw 30. The reverse procedure is followed in coupling the vehicles.
