615,607. Road-vehicle forecarriages; draught appliances. MARKHAM TRACTION, Ltd., and WATT, J. Jan. 23, 1947, No. 2149. [Class 108 (ii)] A front-wheel attachment for converting a two-wheeled trailer into a four-wheeled vehicle comprises a pair of wheels 8, the axle of which is provided with a bearing member which fits into a fork 3 on the free end of the trailer draw-bar 2 and is connected thereto by at least one pin 14 arranged to pass through coaxial holes in the fork. Plates 10, 11 are mounted on the axle 9 and fit between the jaws 3a, 3b of the fork 3, which is carried by a rod 4 adapted to slide and turn in bearings 5, 6 on the draw-bar 2, a spring 7 absorbing shocks. The pin 14 may be placed in either of two holes 12, 13 giving two ranges of turning movement to the attachment, or a pin may be inserted in each hole which prevents any turning. A draw-bar 15 on the attachment can pivot in a vertical plane and carries a fork coupling 17 which can turn about its longitudinal axis. A jack 18 is provided to support the draw-bar 2.
