699,360. Hand trucks. HEALEY, C. J. Feb. 19, 1952 [Feb. 19, 1951], No. 4050/51. Class 108 (i). A vehicle for carrying loads comprises a pair of wheels 1 and 2, a traction-bar 8, and loadsupporting means 6 and 7, so disposed that when in operation, both the longitudinal axis and the centre of gravity of the load lie in the vertical plane containing the axis of the wheels. The longitudinal axis of the load is preferably inclined to the horizontal (Fig. 4). A leg 10 pivoted at 11, and clipped at 12 when not in use, is provided to support the traction bar free of the ground when the vehicle is not.in use. The vehicle is optionally collapsable. Fig. 5 shows the vehicle arranged as a wheelbarrow, with open top 21 and with detachable side 18, on hinges or running in grooves. Fig. 6 shows a version for carrying golf bags, in which the traction bar is in two parts, one fastened adjustably to the other through shock-absorbing means. Wheel 1 is fastened through shockabsorber 24 to upright 25, which is a telescopic fit into upright 27, and bears against shockabsorbing means such as a rubber rod or compression spring. In this case, leg 10 also forms the handle for the traction bar.
