Abstract

580,624. Trailer couplings. SCOTTISH STAMPING & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and LATTA, J. D. July 11, 1944, No. 13226. [Class 103 (v)] A coupling for the draw-bar connecting a trailer to a road vehicle comprises a draw-bar 9 clamped between resilient washers 8, 11 mounted on a pin 6 secured to a bracket 1 bolted to a bar or rail 3 secured to the chassis of the road vehicle. A pin 5 forms the hinge joint of the clamping member 12 which is perforated to receive the end of the pin 6 and another pin 7 by which the clamping member is locked by a splitpin 16. A rod 15 attached to the bracket 1 and extending below the end 14 of the clamping member 12 forms the co-operating means by which the washers are squeezed together and whereby the split-pin 16 may be inserted in the pin 7.
