Abstract

548,410. Couplings for vehicles. BOWER, W. June 20, 1941, No. 7796. [Class 103 (v)] A vehicle coupling device which enables a trailer to be coupled to a tractor selectively at a number of vertically spaced points comprises, a horizonta bar b, a bar c of the shape shown and a vertical bar a welded to the rear ends of the bars b, c and having holes e to any one of which the trailer can be coupled. The forward end of the bar c lies along side and is welded to the forward end of the bar b and these ends have holes g by which the device can be bolted to the tractor draw-bar. A hole h also serves for coupling to the tractor. The device is shown as connected to the coupling device described in Specification 546,514 so that the trailer may be attached to the tractor by any one of the laterally-spaced holes 13 or by any of the vertically-spaced holes e.
