Abstract

525,312. Trailer couplings. GLEDHILL, T. Feb. 17, 1939, No. 5332. [Class 103 (v)] A road vehicle coupling adapted to be detachably mounted on a bumper or like bar d of one of the vehicles comprises two flat bars a each provided with oppositely directed hook-like projections c adapted to be engaged with the bumper bar d by presenting them at an angle thereto and then turning them parallel therewith, the adjacent ends b of the bars a which are bent outwards and twisted through a right angle being then connected together by a pin f to which the drawbar of the other vehicle may be attached. The modification shown in Fig. 5 consists of a single bar a provided with oppositely directed hook-like projection or projections c on each side of the central lugs b carrying the drawbar coupling pin f the projections c being secured to the bar a by bolts i. In each case screws h are provided having a clamping action on the bumper bar to prevent sideways movement and rattling.
