Abstract
516,676. Vehicle couplings. BROCKHOUSE & CO., Ltd., J., and DEAR, A. T. C. July 4, 1938, No. 19696. [Class 103 (v)] In a tractor-trailer coupling of the kind in which a tow-bar on one vehicle is adapted to be connected to clamps. engaging a bumper bar or equivalent member on the other vehicle, the towbar is connected to a bracket 10 having a crossbar 11 to the ends of which are adjustably secured on bolts 12 clamp bars 13, each of which forms one element of a two-part clamp 13, 18 adapted to engage the bumper bar &c. Each element 18 is adjusted relative to the element 13 by means of a screw-bolt 17, and is secured in position by a second pivoted bolt 20 engaging a slot 22 in the element 18 and fitted with' a knurled nut 24. To provide for angular adjustment of the elements, 13, a washer 15 having radial teeth on both faces is interposed between the elements 13 and corresponding surfaces on the cross-bar 11.
