Abstract
609,718. Heating by electromagnetic induction. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. April 3, 1945, No. 8241. Convention date, April 1, 1944. [Class 39(iii)] A metal work piece 1 is heated by eddy currents induced by the rotation of magnetic poles 2 over the surface of the work piece. The pole structure with its energizing winding 16 is driven by an electric motor 8. Various arrangements are described for heating plates, and rod or tubular work pieces in which the magnetic poles are rotated. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement in which a rod 53 is heated by the rotation of pole structures 58, 59, by a motor 8 and an open belt 60 and a crossed belt 61.
