[Class 35] A permanently magnetized rotor has laminated poles 2 energized by a transversely magnetized ring 1a, soft iron spacing rings 3 being incorporated in the pole stacks. It is stated that these rings also act as magnetic shunts reducing strong fields, flux leakage and armature reaction. Non-magnetic end members 1, e.g. of aluminium, support the assembly.
