587,906. Alternating-current motors. COLLIER, A. S. Oct. 30, 1944, No. 21189. [Class 35] In a synchronous motor with a bobbin-type stationary exciting winding, the rotor has separate permanent magnets or a multi-pole magnet with the poles in annular formation, poles of opposite polarity being arranged alternately and projecting so that they face the stator polepieces. In the form shown, the rotor has five U-shaped permanent magnets 3 secured by clips to a non-magnetic cup, not shown, and so disposed as to surround the teeth 12, 13 of an imbricated pole stator. Alternatively, the rotor may be an annular magnet.
