Abstract

604,062. Inking rollers; inking pads. SINTERED PRODUCTS, Ltd., SINCLAIR, C. E. and LENNOX, J. W. Nov. 22, 1945, No. 31529. [Class 100(ii)] In a duplicating or other printing- machine, ink is applied to the printing surface or to an inking surface by a roller or plate made of porous-metal, such as copper, bronze, brass, copper-nickel or coppernickel-tin by powder metallurgy. Ink may be fed to the surface mechanically in predetermined quantities or by capillarities and more than one colour may be printed at a time by the provision of an arrangement such as several co-axial rolls fed.with different coloured inks. The roll or plate can be cleaned by washing with suitable solvent and subsequently forcing air or steam therethrough. It may be used covered with another porous material such as cloth.
