919,919. Stencilling-apparatus. ELECTROSTATIC PRINTING CORPORATION OF AMERICA. March 2, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7612/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 100 (2). Stencilling-apparatus comprises an electrically conductive screen stencil and a conductive member having a surface uniformly spaced from the stencil, the member and stencil being connected in an electric circuit so as to maintain an electrostatic field therebetween, whereby finely divided pigment powder applied to the stencil passes therethrough and moves towards the conductive member, the powder coming to rest image-wise on the conductive member or on a sheet or web positioned between the member and the stencil. The powder is applied by a felt-covered roller. The applied voltage is 300-2,000. The screen may be a nickel screen with 250 wires to the inch formed into a stencil by exposing to light through an original a photosensitive coating. The stencil may be flat, constitute the surface of a cylinder, or be an endless band carried on rollers. For printing on both sides of a sheet or web, the conductive member is a second similar stencil. The powder image is fixed by any conventional means.
