Abstract

1,261,970. Electro-statographic developer. XEROX CORP. Feb.21, 1969 [Feb.23, 1968], No. 9483/69. Heading G2H. A method for preparing an electro-statographic developer dispenser comprising immersing an electrically conductive dispensing member in a liquid developer comprising finely divided marking particles dispersed in an electrically insulating carrier liquid, applying a potential to at least one electrode immersed in the developer so as to establish a non-uniform electric field in the developer between the electrode and dispensing member so that all areas of at least one surface of the dispensing member is loaded with charged particles. Preferably, the field is applied by one or more coronode wires, needles or knife edges. The dispensing member may be uniformly conductive and when loaded used to develop a xeroprint master, a xerographic plate or an insulating sheet over an electrostatic image-bearing member. Alternatively the member may be conductive with a dielectric pattern thereon (e.g. of photo-resist) and the particles loaded on the dielectric areas transferred to a receptor sheet.
