Abstract

1,259,880. Electro-photographic development. XEROX CORP. Feb. 21, 1969 Feb. 23, 1968], No. 9486/69. Heading G2H. Electrostatic images are developed by contact with a suspension of developer particles in a carrier liquid, said suspension having immersed therein at least one coronode to which is applied a potential sufficient to deform the liquid surface. The coronode(s) may be in the form of a needle, a knife edge or a wire, and positioned in the liquid so as to, on energization either (1) deform the surface of the liquid sufficiently for it to contact the image bearing surface, or (2) electrostatically atomize the suspension. The electrostatic images may be formed on a dielectric drum or by charging and exposing a photo-conductive drum, and the developed image transferred to a receptor sheet.
