Abstract

1,102,282. Developing electrostatic images. RANK XEROX Ltd. May 14, 1965 [June 8, 1964] No.20466/65. Heading G2H. An electrostatic latent image formed on photoconductive drum 8 at charging and exposure stations 15 and 20 is developed by toner on rotating donor members 52. Each donor member 52 is loaded with toner by a loading member 70 passing through a fluidized bath 55 of toner particles. The surface of member 70 carrying toner is electrostatically charged by corona discharge device 71. The member 70 has a coating 73, e.g., of polyethylene sheet of Kodak blotting paper. Toner particles are transferred from member 70 to donor 52 by an electric field supplied by potential supply 80. The bath 55 is reciprocated by a rotating crank pin 62. In a modification, Fig.2 (not shown) two loading members 54 supply a single donor member 52. In another modification, the loading member is an endless belt 73 Fig. 3 (not shown). In each embodiment, the developed image is transferred to a web 41.
