Abstract

1381049 Developing electrostatic images XEROX CORP 23 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 24132/72 Heading G2H Electrostatic latent images on surface 25 are developed by a carrier/toner powder developer supplied by a moving conductive donor member 21, on which it forms a magnetic brush which collapses before the developer is brought into contact with the image-bearing surface. Preferably the donor member is an endless belt running over rollers 20, 29, one of which houses fixed magnets 23, or is a rotating sleeve surrounding fixed magnets. The donor member may release developer on to a developing electrode, from which unused developer is discharged to be scavenged by a second magnetic brush. Multiple donor members may be used in conjunction, and the or each donor member may be fed with developer by magnetic brush rollers.
