Abstract

1,267,535. Electrographic process. IWASAKI TSUSHINKI K. K. March 17, 1969 [March 19, 1968; July 4, 1968; Aug. 9, 1968], No. 13994/69. Heading G2H. [Also in Division B6] A sheet to be electrostatically charged, or superimposed sheets between which a developed image is to be transferred, is or are placed between a dielectric covered first conductor and a second conductor, a field is applied between the conductors, and undesired charge is removed from the dielectric. As shown in Fig. 2 a battery 8 applies a field between rollers 5 and 6 to charge a sheet 7 and a battery 10 is connected to a roller 9 to remove charge from dielectric 5b. Similar systems are described with reference to Figs. 4, 7, 9 (not shown). As shown in Fig. 5, an A. C. source 17 is connected between rollers 5 and 6 to apply a field in one direction when a sheet is present and to apply a field in the opposite direction when a sheet is absent to remove charge from the dielectric 56. Similar systems are described with reference to Figs. 8, 10, 11 (not shown). Instead of using an A, C, source, rollers 5, 6 may be switched between two D.C. sources. Instead of roller electrodes, an endless dielectric band around two conductors Fig. 7 (not shown) or a pair of plates one of which reciprocates Fig. 8 (not shown) may be used.
