[Class, 100 (ii)] Multicolour printing at one operation is performed by the use of a block or plate I, Fig. 1, having numerous narrow and closely spaced channels 3 passing from front to rear, the channels being charged with inks of different colours by the aid of stencils placed in succession on the rear of the block, or instead of stencils, by the aid of small perforated blocks 21, Fig. 9, assembled together so that their perforations 20 register with the channels 3, the parts not covered by these blocks being covered by small or large unperforated blocks 22, 23. Instead of the blocks having only one perforation, larger blocks having a number of perforations, which may be in the form of letters &c., may be used. The back of the block 1 is covered by a chamber 4 to which air or other gas under pressure may be admitted to force the colour into the channels for charging or out of them for printing. The printing may be effected directly on to the sheets, or may first be applied to a non-absorbent surface and transferred therefrom to the sheet by a transfer plate which may have the outline of the design engraved therein so that the final print has a sharp outline.
