Abstract

1,215,200. Screen printing apparatus. E. WEBER. 26 Nov., 1968 [29 Nov., 1967], No. 56116/68. Heading B6C. In a screen printing machine the or each printing station comprises a cylindrical rotary screen 1, with its axis horizontal, an impression cylinder 38 with magnets inside it, a squeegee 31 of magnetically attractable material inside the screen 1 and a carrier 34 which brings material to be printed on 33 at each printing station into the nip between screen 1 and cylinder 38. Squeegee 31 may be of metal or of elastic material such as a rubber or a synthetic resin, together with magnetically attractable material. Both squeegee 31 and spring 30 may be divided into sections along the length of screen 1, and the magnets in cylinder 38 may be similarly divided. Ink 11 drops from stationary axle 5 through apertures 12, and is replenished through a hose connection to a reservoir. Preferably the cylinder 38 contains electromagnets. The carrier 34 is, preferably, an endless rubber sheet, and the material to be printed on either a web or a series of sheets.
