Abstract

1,238,871. Printing apparatus. R. H. WALTER. 20 Aug., 1968 [28 Aug., 1967; 4 Sept., 1967], No. 39676/68. Heading B6C. In a printing apparatus of the sort in which textile or other material 3 to be printed on has ink applied to it through screen 1 by an internal roller 2, pulled against the screen 1 by electromagnets 5, the cores 6 of the electromagnets 5 are arranged to fall short of the surface of printing material support 7, and so cannot interfere with printing by their expansion and contraction. The material 3 is carried by blanker 4, and on it slips over resilient cladding 8. A cavity 10 allows cladding 8, blanker 4 and material 3 to yield as it passes between support 7 and screen 1. Alternatively, support 7 may be a rotating cylinder, with electromagnets within it, or may be separated from cladding 8 by compressible or resilient material.
