Abstract
603,505. Fusible cut - outs. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BIGNELL, G. J. H. Oct. 22, 1945, No. 27743. [Class 38 (i)] A cartridge fuse carrier 1 has two clips which retain and make contact with the metal endcaps 3 of a cartridge fuse, each clip comprising a pair of opposite contact blades 5 having arcuate portions 7 fitting the end-cap and bowed portions 6 which together may enter the socket of a fuse base. Apertured extensions 9 of each blade pivot on the linked ends 13 of the arms of a V-shaped support 10 fixed to the fuse carrier. The arms 16 of a steel spring superimposed on the V-shaped support bear on the free ends of the extensions 9 so that when the blades engage an end-cap (Fig. 2) they are pressed into closer contact, and when the blades are rotated in their pivots away from an end cap they pass through a dead-centre to a stable position free of the end-cap, allowing the latter to be removed (Fig. 3). To increase the pressure of the blades upon an end-cap, the portions 6 which enter the socket of a fuse base, are bowed, and the free ends 17 are bent together forming a pivot point such that when the blades enter the socket the pressure between them and the fuse end-cap is increased.
