Abstract
465,657. Two-part couplings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 18, 1936, No. 31611. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1935. [Class 38 (i)] Relates to a cap and holder for a tubular lamp. Each end of the lamp 10 is fitted with a ferrule 12 having a central recess 19, that may be tapered, and into which fit resilient fingers 18 projecting from a contact 16 that is anchored by claws 20 in an insulating cap 17. A tang 21 is formed on the contact 16 and has its edges 22 upturned to increase the area of contact between it and a spring clip 24, 36 in the holder. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the clip 24 is housed in a chamber in the base 23 and is retained therein by a plate 31 secured to the base by rivets 32, 33. A flat extension on the clip is bent up at its end to receive a terminal 27, the bent end also engaging a shoulder in the base 23. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, the clip 36 is riveted to the base 34, the rivet carrying a terminal screw 38 and passing through a boss 35 on which a nut screws for mounting the holder. In either form, two clips may be employed to receive adjacent ends of two lamps as shown in Fig. 2, a wall of insulation extending partially across between them.
