Abstract

602,981. Linear-dimension gauges. FORREST, W. Nov. 14, 1945, No. 30474. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for indicating errors in the distance of the centre of a surface of revolution from a datum comprises a lever 4, 5 pivoted at 3 to a fixed plate 1. The longer arm 5 is connected by a link 6 to a lever 7 pivoted at 8 and connected by a link 9 to a bell-crank lever the longer arm 12 of which is formed with a pointer 13 arranged to move over a scale 14. The lever-link arrangement is so balanced that the pointer is normally at zero. The projecting end 4 of the lever 4, 5 is formed with a V-notch, the two sides of which form faces 19, which make contact at two points with the spherical surface or other surface of revolution under test. A distance piece 20 has a surface 21 which engages the datum surface of the article to be tested.
