Abstract

597,420. Electric thermometers. LIGHT, A. June 8, 1945, No. 14540. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a surface temperature measuring system a thermistor 1 is mounted in a probe 8 and provides one arm of an A.C. operated bridge. Unbalance signals are amplified, rectified, and indicated by meter MA. In operation, resistors 2a and 2b are varied to obtain balance, when associated scales read the temperature of the thermistor. Those associated with 2a giving coarse indications, and those with 2b fine indications. Fig. 2 shows a probe for soft surfaces, the rigidly mounted thermistor extending slightly beyond the casing. For hard surfaces, the thermistor may be yieldably mounted in a similar position (as in Fig. 3, not shown).
