Abstract

606,434. Pneumatic micrometers. SOC. ANON. DE CONSTRUCTION DE MATERIEL AUTOMOBILE S.A.C.M.A. Aug. 31, 1945, No. 22484. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1944. [Class 106 (ii)] The valve and the gauging members of a pneumatic micrometer, for measuring internal dimensions, are enclosed in a pilot slightly smaller than the dimension to be measured. For measuring internal diameters, the body 1 of the measuring apparatus carries a fixed contact 2 projecting from a slot in the pilot 12, and a flexible arm 4 carrying a movable contact 3, projecting from a diametrically opposed slot. The arm 4 also carries an angle arm 6 varying the opening of a valve 7 whereby movement of the contact 3 varies the reading of a pressure gauge taken off an air pressure supply to the valve 7. The gauging apparatus is located in the pilot by screws having slight play to permit the gauging apparatus to contact the bore properly. In Fig. 3, the pilot is of U-section, the gauging mechanism being pivotally connected to the pilot at 13<1>. The valve body 10 can be adjusted by screwing to vary the datum measurement.
