Abstract
658,754. Fluid-pressure-operated gauging- apparatus. SOC. D'APPLICATIONS ET DE CONSTRUCTIONS POUR MATERIEL AUTOMOBILE, (S.A.C.M.A.). July 14, 1948, No. 18947. Convention date, July 21, 1947. [Class 106 (ii)] For checking the concentricity of the bore in a work-piece 7, an air gauge comprises a bodyportion in the form of a plug 1 with annular rings 2, 3, engaging the bore of the work-piece at 4 and 5, and an air nozzle 8 with a calibrated orifice 9. A flange 6 is provided to position the gauge relative to the work-piece bore and the work-piece is rotated slowly, defects in the concentricity of the bore being indicated by variations of reading of a pneumatic indicator, not shown, the connection thereto being made via the conduit 12. In a modification, Fig. 4, the alignment of the bores 50, 51, 52 is checked by rotation of the gauge in the work-piece, contact at 4, 5, between the annular rings 2, 3, being maintained by spring-loaded plungers 54, 60. Variations shown by the pneumatic indicator, not shown, indicating errors in alignment of the bore 51 with respect to bores 50 and 52.
