Abstract
763,386. Pressure gauges; linear-dimension gauges. TAFT-PEIRCE MANUFACTURING CO. July 2, 1954, No. 19480/54. Class 106 (2). Pressure fluid from a supply line 10 is fed via a control valve 11 to two venturi devices 16, 17 and from thence in lines 18, 20 to two pairs of gauging nozzles 23, 24 and 25, 26 respectively the pressures at the venturi devices being measured differentially so that an indication is given of the accuracy of taper independently of the diameter of the gauge. Other embodiments show differential measurements over two pairs of nozzles in gauges for testing a cylinder for squareness, for checking the concentricity of two internal stepped cylindrical bores and of the fit between a cylinder and the bore which it is to engage. The venturis 16, 17 communicate with the exterior and interior respectively of a deformable capsule 35 whose movements with varying differential pressure are transmitted by a stud 37 and a radial arm 39 to rotate a spindle 38 which in turn rotates an indicator 45 through gearing 41, 43.
