[Classes 69 (i) and 135] A valve unit for a hydrant comprises a hollow cone 11, the base of which faces the inlet and which has formed thereon a beaded flange 13 that is forced on to a valve seat 4' by the pressure of the water and a spring 15. The valve, which is axially guided by a stem 12 sliding in a fixed boss 10, is opened by turning a screw-threaded spindle 30. The construction of the hydrant forms the subject-matter of Specification 602,279.
