Abstract

602,190. Waste water drain wells. TELLER, H. Oct. 9, 1945, No. 26289. [Class 33] In a waste water drain well 1 with a hand-operated closing valve 20 arranged within a removable valve housing 3 the outlet side of which has a flange 14 carrying an automatically operating non-return valve 7, the valve housing has a downwardly extending inlet 5 the upper edge of which serves as a seating for the closing valve 20, and above the inlet a conical cover 17 through which passes the spindle 18 of the closing valve and which provides an inclined passage for waste water from the grate 25 to the inlet 5. The housing 3 is secured in position by a clamping bolt 10 with a prismatic head 12 engaging a recess 13 in the well wall and with a nut 11 the lower portion of one end of which is engaged by a semi-circular collar 11a. The spindle 18 passes through a packing box 21 which is protected by a sleeve 27 on the lower end of a hand wheel 23 which is accommodated in a central opening 26 in the grate 25. Alternatively, the sleeve 27 may be separate, or form an upward extension of the cover 17, and the hand wheel may project slightly above the grate.
