[Class 123(i)] [Also in Group XVII] A closure for an opening of a container subjected to internal pressure comprises a gasket 18 which is compressed against a pressure-head 16 by inward screwing of a ring 17 and thereby radially expanded into sealing contact with the inner surface of the container. Inward movement of the head 16 into the opening is limited by a constriction 15. An internally-threaded open-topped closure cap 19 is hinged to the container so as to align axially with the opening when closed thereagainst, and to be swingable outwardly away from the opening. The head 16, ring 17, and gasket 18, form an assemblage which is maintained in position by a stud bolt 27 affixed to the head 16 and projecting through a hole 32 on a plate 31 which is welded to the ring 17 and has a hand bar 37 by which the ring may be rotated to enable the assemblage to be screwed out of the opening and into the cap 19 and out of the cap 19 into the opening. Adjusting screws 41 on the cap enable it to be spaced from the container so as to cause corresponding threads 38, 13, in the cap and on the opening interior to be continuous. A lug 42 welded to the container co-operates with a lug 43 on the cap, Fig. 1 (not shown), to guide the cap into alignment in the closed position where it is held by a spring- loaded latch 44.
