[Also in Groups XVIII, XXV and XXVIII] A vessel or conduit for a fluid under pressure comprises two parts having a fluid-tight joint formed by a sealing body of resilient material located between and abutting against external peripheral flanges provided one on each part and a removable collar which fits over the flanges and sealing body and is locked in position by the fluid pressure acting through the sealing body. The vessel may comprise a pressure cooker, a cream aerator or, as shown, a soda-water siphon in which the upper part 11, Fig. 1, is formed with a flange 45 having a depending skirt 46 which fits over the flange 44 on the lower part 10, a rubber sealing body 47 being housed within the skirt 46. The removable collar 48 is a loose fit over the flanges and skirt and is formed in two identical halves 51, 52, Fig. 2, each having a resilient metal strip 53 riveted to it at 54. One end 53 of each strip forms a spring latch for engaging a hole 56 in the other half of the collar, release of the latch being effected by depression of a stud 57. The siphon head 12 is formed with a bore 13 closed at its outer end and communicating with an outlet passage 14. The lower enlarged end of the bore is screw-threaded to receive a threaded plug 16 having an inlet passage 17 and so shaped that the upper edge of the wall of the part 11 is gripped between the plug 16 and head 12 when the plug is screwed home. A sealing gasket 18 seals the joint between the head 12 and plug 16. The upper end of the plug 16 forms a valve seat 22 co-operating with a valve member 21 mounted on a spring-urged piston 23 sliding in the bore 13. The valve is operated by a lever 25 and lug 28 working in a slot 29 in the piston 23. The siphon is charged with gas by means located in the siphon head or, as shown, in the recessed base 31 of the siphon. This comprises a socket 32 provided with a hollow piercing pin 38 having a bore 39 communicating with the inside of the siphon via an orifice covered by a rubber sleeve 41 housed in an annular recess 42, thus forming a non-return valve. The socket 32 is externally threaded to engage an internal thread on a compressed gas capsule, a resilient washer 43 providing a gas-tight seal with the neck of the capsule.
