Abstract

1,146,314. Gas lighter filling valve. LA NATIONALE S.A. 11 May, 1966 [11 June, 1965], No. 20981/66. Heading F4F. A liquefied gas filling valve comprises a stamped metal bush forming a body 1 force fitted into a container wall 24, e.g. of a lighter, the bottom end of the body being apertured at 7 to guide a movable element 5 biased by spring 3 against and extending through an annular gasket 18 which normally seals a bore 10, the element also extending through another annular gasket 17 separated from the first by an annular ring 19. The upper part of element 5 has a longitudinal bore 9 which communicates with bore 10, and has also circular ribs 11 for securing a sleeve 12 integral with a hollow needle 13. The sleeve 12 is guided by a sleeve 14 surrounding gasket 17 which is restrained by circular deformations 15 and 21 in the body 1. During refilling a container is forced into the valve causing the downward movement of sleeve 12, element 5 and gasket 18 until the gasket contacts a circular deformation 22 of body 1. Further pressure on the container will deform the gasket 18 and the liquefied gas will enter via needle 13, bore 10 and aperture 7. An exhaust passage will be opened via aperture 20, the space between the gaskets and to atmosphere through grooves 16 in the side of sleeve 12.
