Heading F2G. [Also in Division F1] In a closure unit for a container for a beverage, e.g. beer, and a gas under pressure, e.g. carbon dioxide, a gas inlet passage and a liquid outlet passage are concentric and have spring-loaded valves opened by the attachment of a tapping head to the unit, the head being locatable on the unit at any angle about the axis of the closure unit. In the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 4, valves 84 and 93 are opened by head members 110 and 122 respectively, member 122 acting through rods 88. Gas enters the container 71 via passages 125, 119, 116 and 87, and liquid is discharged via passages 98, 78, 83 and 103. A check valve comprising a slotted rubber nipple 124, is fitted in the tapping head gas passage. The head is locked in position by the engagement of tongues 111 on ring 108 with cam surfaces beneath flange 113. In the embodiment of Figs. 5 and 7, a valve 196 is opened by a member 169, and a valve member 127 displaced from its seating 124 by an abutment 165. Gas enters via passages 155, 125 and 130, and liquid is dispensed via passages 139 and 154. The head is locked in position by engagement of flange 150 with lugs 167 on the closure unit.
