[Also in Group XXVIII] A coupling for connecting a liquid container to a dispensing apparatus and to a source of gas under pressure comprises a hollow body part 1 attached to the container 2 having combined therewith a rotary valve 6 for controlling the outflow of liquid from a pipe 3 depending into the container and a spring-loaded slidable valve 12 for controlling the inflow of gas and a liquid conveying spigot 17 adapted to serve as a key for actuating the rotary valve 6 and being adapted for interconnection with the body part by a bayonet type fastening and having a separately operable member 28 on the spigot for conveying gas to the container and adapted to actuate the gas controlling valve 12. The valve 12 controls passages 15 through the body part 1 certain of which passages contain stems 16 projecting beyond the part 1. The valve 6 is secured to a stem 7 having a key head 8 which is engaged by a complementary key member 19 on the spigot so that when the spigot 17 is inserted into the part 1 and rotated to engage the bayonet coupling the valve 6 is automatically opened. At the same time a washer 21 on the spigot 17 engages a seat 9 on the part 1. By rotating a nut 32 on the spigot 17 a washer 30 on the member 28 is forced into engagement with a seat 31 on the part 1 and engagement with the stems 16 opens the valve 12 to connect a gas inlet pipe 29 to the interior of the container. The spigot 17 is connected to an outlet pipe 25 by a gland 24.
