Abstract

<PICT:0669743/III/1> A tap for drawing-off beer and provided with means to put a head on the beer comprises a body D which is connected to the beer engine by a tube A and is provided with an inspection aperture closed by a plug K, a stem J1 adjustable in position by means of a knurled cap R on its upper end and co-operating by means of its conical or rounded lower end J3 with the outlet F to provide a throttling passage for the purpose of putting the head on the beer, a valve closure surface J provided on the stem J1 so that the beer passage can be closed off at the point H when the tap has to be repaired, a stuffing box for the stem comprising washers N and a gland ring O secured in position by a nut M, and a circlip Q which seats in a recess in the top of the gland ring and engages a groove R5 in the cap R.
