Abstract

599,386. Manually-actuated valves. WADSWORTH, A. S. April 16, 1945, No. 9432. [Class 135] In a faucet of the kind having a jumper valve 14 supported by a fluted member 11 and actuated by adjusting a threaded sleeve 5, Fig. 2, on a stem 2 on the faucet body 1, the jumper is formed with a shank 13 engaging a bore in the member 11. The upper end of the sleeve is closed by a gland part 9 which also serves to limit the opening of the valve, and the stem 2 houses a check valve 18 whose stem 19 normally rests on the jumper. To replace the jumper washer or clean the faucet, the nut 9 is removed to permit removal of the sleeve with the fluted member and the jumper and closure of the port 4 by the check valve. The stem 2 may be provided with a renewable seat for the jumper, and the fluted member ensures that the water issues from the faucet nozzle 6 in a non-splash jet.
